Corporal John Rogerson
On the Amiens front on the 11th of August the Corporals company of Canadians was held up by a German machine gun, which by the order of the officer in command had to be silenced . Cpl Rogerson volunteered to accompany his officer on this hazardous mission . They covered the ground in safety and reached the German trench. By this time Cpl Rogerson had no ammunition left , but found at hand a good supply of German hand grenades which he used to account for the German gun crew and their immediate supports. Cpl Rogerson and his officer seized the gun and returned to their own lines in safety. This brave action allowed the company to advance. It was 10 days afterwards that Cpl Rogerson received his very severe wounds
