WW1 pair S LT W CHAPMAN RNVR

Sub Lieut W Chapman Hawke Battalion Royal Naval Division was the 21 year old son of George Thomas Chapman and Ada Chapman, of 23, Marley Rd., Levenshulme, Manchester.

He first served at home with the Royal Marines before receiving a commission in the Royal Naval Division in April 1918. he served overseas with the Hood Battalion, from July 1918, transferring to the Hawke Battalion on the 8th of August 1918. he was killed in action on the 4th of September 1918 and is buried in Queant Road Cemetery Buissy
