9/14736 Rfmn John Gray , Royal Irish Rifles who has been awarded the Military Medal for bravery on the 19th of march 1916 in repairing wires under heavy shell fire , is 22 years of age and resides at 280 Springfield Road. He was an active member of the West Belfast Regiment UVF and responded to his countries call at the outbreak of war.It will be a source of pleasure to his many friends to hear of his distinction
John Gray is further listed in the Northern Whig on the 11th of July 1917 as being the recipient of a Divisional Gallantry Card and further listed as wounded in a listing published on the 8th of may 1918
Medals are with original ribbons and in toned NEF condition
