John Thomas Gurney from Calthorpe in Warwickshire served in the 1st R Warwickshire Regiment and was killed n action on the 25th of April 1915 .On this day the battalion attacked the German front line and was almost wiped out , losing over 500 officers and men killed , wounded or missing. He had previously served on the North West Frontier and was severely wounded with a gunshot wound to the foot on the 24th of April 1908 during the action at Mutta
